JPF03474 - Adjunct Professor in Structural Engineering
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The UC San Diego Department of Structural Engineering (SE) invites applications for an Adjunct Professor position at Assistant Professor rank. The department is looking for exceptional candidates in the area of Structural Engineering preferably candidates with experience in life cycle structural asset management with focus on value of information analysis for structural health monitoring design, probabilistic optimal sensing strategies for structural life cycle cost minimization, and formal decision-making modeling of asset management.
The candidate selected for the position will be expected to engage in research proposal writing and successful execution of the research in the areas previously listed and mentoring graduate students in the execution of that research. Teaching courses may be occasionally requested as per Department of Structural Engineering needs and requests, not to exceed two courses per year. Service to the department and university as a whole is also expected in the form of graduate student committee service and light departmental committee service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
An earned doctoral degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely-related field is required at the time of the application.
Prior teaching experience of at least one year in undergraduate mechanics.
