Speaker Bio

Dr. Gary Georgeson is the president of Georgeson Consulting LLC, which he founded in 2020 after 32 years at the Boeing Company, where he rose to the position of the Senior Technical Fellow in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) & Measurement. His present company provides NDE-related engineering, market analysis, product development, and technical courses, through the Boeing Ed Wells Partnership. His career in NDE includes 400+ U.S. patents and 200+ international patents related to NDE, composite fabrication, and automated systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara, with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the same university. He also has an M.A. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and has been a Christian pastor for over three decades. During his career, Dr. Georgeson’s various innovations have served many commercial and military programs and helped win contract R&D NDE projects from the USAF, USN, NASA, TTCI, and the FAA. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Nondestructive Testing.

In the aerospace industry, any structure that an engineer designs or builds must be validated for quality and performance using an approach called Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE), which can be used during the structure's development, fabrication or in-service usage. This present talk will introduce state-of-the-art NDE methods within the field of aerospace and describe some of the biggest challenges the industry faces going into the future. Several interesting examples of NDE research and development currently being done to face those challenges will also be provided.
